Great Place to Study

This Wednesday, my group members and I went to the UIowa Art Building West. When we arrived there, the building shocked us, because this building is so beautiful. And there also have a pond with blue water. Then we moved to inside of the building, is very quiet, every well have at least one painting, like a gallery. After we walked around, we decided to choose a place to study. We went to the art library, only a few people was studying, and there was quite. We studied there for a while, and then left.

Van Allen Hall

       In the Wednesday, our group went to Van Allen Hall after class. It is a big white building closed the downtown. It was a good day. This is an absolutely for study and take class. It has two big class room, at that time, I think people are taking physics class in that room. In the ground floor, share a lot of old things, kind like first pressure capsule. People take some ESL Classes in the ground floor. Otherwise, people like sit in the aisle to do homework. Also, we can see a lot of pictures about outer space on the wall, those are from James A. Van Allen, a native Iowan, earned his Ph.D in University of Iowa, and teach physics department for almost ten years.  After we visited, we took a picture and back home. (Jerry)

       On Wednesday, I went to Van Allen Hall with my partners. I want to compare with Van Allen Hall and EPB Building. First, Van Allen Hall is bigger than EPB Building. Not only the built-up area, but also the room of Van Allen Hall is bigger than EPB’s. Next, Van Allen Hall has a floor for students and tourist to display some history about physics and astronomy faculty. EPB dose not have a floor like this. Also, I think it will be very helpful for IIEP students have classes in Van Allen Hall, because Van Allen Hall is super near with Seashore Hall. It is much easier to find teacher if we have some question or problem.(Joy)    


                                                        

                                       

        The reason why I like Van Allen Commons and think there is a good place is that this place is located at the 3rd floor of Van Allen Hall where near to my dorm. And it is a very quiet place available for students to study. I also saw it has several spaces for students to have group work. There also have many computers. People in there are really engaging with their work it might be the interdependent function which is good for me since I'm not easy to focus on my work. Furthermore, Van Allen Commons is available for student use for so much time. It's through Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm. That's my opinion about Van Allen Commons.(Sean)

Wild Bill’s Coffee Shop

     On Thursday, a day before our weekend, our group went to Wild Bill’s Coffee Shop. It is a small shop in the North Hall. We met there at 3:30 PM direct after classes. The coffee shop looks very beautiful and nice, even if it is small. In addition, it is pretty quiet, so it is a good place to study. There were a few students. They were sitting on tables and using their laptops. Actually, we went there just to stay and relax after a long day. After a few minutes of rest, we went back our homes. It was a great time with the funniest group members.

      Today we went the coffee shop to study.Actually it is really unbelieveable that a small coffee shop can put lots of table in it. I like they style that make feel warm, also I think their Mocha is very nice. I recommend you guys should try if you have time. One thing I think they need to improve is they only take cash, that make me not very convenient. All in all, I like this place and I will go there again!

      Today me and my team went to Wild Bill's Coffee Shop which located on North hall. I would like to say that this place looks pretty warm, there are lots of tables which could let people studying or taking break. Compare with some other coffee shop I went before, such as fairground, I would like to say that this place is much better than that in my own. Because I think this place make me feel more comfortable than fairground, there are also lots of windows, and people can easily to enjoy the sunshine, maybe they are just different styles, but I prefer Wild Bill's Coffee Shop.

The Art Building ( Comparer )

On Wednesday, my group and I went to the Art building. It is the most beautiful building I have seen till now. Compare to other places that I studied in before such as Starbucks, the art building is the best for some reasons. First of all, the view of this building is very nice, they have a lot of glass that allows you to sit, relax and study. Also, this building is very quiet. On the other hand, in Starbucks, the place is crowded and noise that sometimes you can not focus on your study.

Art Library

In Tuesday after class, my group and I went to Art Library which has a beautiful building with a beautiful view. The building built on a beautiful artificial lake and All the walls are made from glass, so the sunlight entering the building.  It is a good place for study and relaxing and I think it is the best place in Iowa city for meditation and thinking because it is calm and designed in a way open spaces, also everyone study alone. On the other hand, the main library where I usually study is a big building and has a lot of noise because it is always crowded and designed for collective study. It is the boring place because it does not have any view or painting like Art Library. The best things in Main Library are location and it has books from all majors. Personally, I prefer Art Library if I need to relax and study alone but if I want to meet with my friend to study and discuss I prefer The Main Library.

Visit of Bread Garden Market Patio

It is a cloudy and cold day.After class me and my group went to the Bread Garden Market Patio. It is a place near by a market. So people could buy almost everything they want from market. It is very convenient. It was pretty crowded when I get there. Only a couple of tables are unoccupied. It was noisy because a lot people are talking. Also more than half of the people in there are eating and only a few of people are reading or studying. It looks like a short and narrow aisle with some tables and chairs. It has many glass that can look through it to see both the inside of market and the street. I don't think this is a good place to study but this is a good place to eat some food and enjoy a book for relax. It is also good for loose study because people could eat and drink in there. Especially when a lot of libraries and study places don't allowed people to eat and drink inside. I hope you guys could try this place. By the way, it is in the opposite side of Public Library. It is very convenient to search some information from the library.

on Tuesday afternoon, me and my group visited  Bread Garden Market Patio. As a comparer, I will compare between this market with other markets. I have visited a lot of markets since I came to Iowa, and each market has some advantages and dis advantages. for instance, fairway market is much cheaper than Bread Garden Market Patio, but the quality is not the optimal.  Bread Garden Market Patio has a good quality almost in all its products especially in vegetables and fruits. This market has a restaurant  and bar, which make it distinctive from others. The  only negative thing is the price, other wise every thing is perfect.

Today we went to Art Library after we finished our classes. Good weather made us excited, especially when we saw the beautiful building with a beautiful blue lake. The building is built by many big glasses window, so the sunshine could directly into the library. First, we came into the first show’s room. It exhibited some printed famous artwork, and then we went upstairs and saw the book collection place. It is very big with lots of shelves and put some chairs next to the window, students can read the books under the sunshine. This library contains many books, but as its name, those books totally about art and contain some designer’s knowledge books. It maybe not very useful for our major, but it still a good place to thinking and relaxing. We admired the students who study for art and design, because they can always study in this wonderful library.
