The Haunted Bookstore

  Yesterday, my team went to a bookstore called The Haunted Bookstore. It is a good looking and tiny    house, we took some time to find it. In the beginning I thought it was just a normal bookstore, but it's not. When I got into that small bookstore， I was shacked by what I was seeing. It's really beautiful inside this bookstore， and it gave us a classic feeling. The floor, the front desk, the bookshelf  and all the things in this bookstore looks very old and quiet, but it makes you love this kind of old feeling. Different Kinds of books is sleeping on the bookshelf, it's like they are waiting for someone to open them. There are many toy for kids playing, and some of kids choose to set on the couch and read their favorite comics.  I really like this place, I am thinking if I can stay in this bookstore and read a novel during a whole day, just enjoy the quiet and classical environment.

Visit of Revival and/or Revival 119 Wed 3.21 Haoyang Song(Reviewer) and Bao(Comparer)

Today me and my group went the Revival. This is a store that sells woman's clothes and products. I was a little bit embarrassed when I went into the store because it has some woman's underwear inside:(. The decorate of this store is pretty good and it make feel like a woman's home. However, I was kind of dislike the clothes they are selling in the store because it is too exposed.(maybe my Chinese traditional thinking is effecting me-.-). But the fragrance that they are selling smalls very good. It make me feel like flower. And the seller is very nice. She is passionate and patient. She introduced some product to me. Also the position of this store is very nice. It is in the downtown and near to the Wells Fargo. It is very convenient. Any way it is a good place for girls to shopping!(by Haoyang Song)

Today,our group visited Revival store,it has opened for twelve years.It's a boutique which only sell women's clothes. There are two Revival,the big one just sell clothes,but in another one which is little small you can buy some other cute and interesting things like perfume and jewelry. I think the small shop because it looks like more delicacy and more fashion. In my opinion，Revival like Zara they both sell different kinds of clothes，but there are still some different between them. The biggest different is you can buy men's and children's clothes in Zara,but Revival just sell women's things. And for women's things,they are also have their own style. Revival's clothes much more like country style，let people feel comfortable,clothes in Zara are more fashion than Revival. I'm perfer to Zara,but Revival is also worth to have a visit.

Iowa Artisans Gallery(Joey Sean Jerry)

After today’s classes, we walked to Iowa Artisans Gallery, the address is 207 E Washington St，Iowa City, IA 52240. It does not like typical gallery with a lot of oil painting, all the things in Iowa Artisans Gallery are handicrafts. Also, every stuff has a name card near around them. It has the name of the artist, the city they come from, and the state they come from. All the handicrafts not only can be displayed for residents, but also can be bought by customers. There are many different type of handicrafts, they have plates, bowls, coloured glaze bottle, wear jewels and others thing. I like this place because it has al lot of choices for customers to get the things they want. Also the type of all the things can be accepted for all the ages. Assistants use the interior space to make the store very spacious and clean. It is a good place for people who like to collect the art work. (By Joy)

 We visited Iowa Artisans Gallery in this afternoon. There are a huge number of artwares. The reason why I like this place is that It concludes a lot of things for people's daily use and decoration such as bottles, plates, jewelries, bags, candles, clocks and so on. And these artwork are so beautiful and have been highly designed. The lay out of this shop is excellent every corner has its function, you can find what you need with a glance. In addition, the salespersons in Iowa Artisans Gallery are really nice and helpful. However, all things have advantages and disadvantages. From my point of view, these artwork are more expensive than I expected. But it is a really good place for choosing birthday gift for someone.  

                                                   

Today we went to Iowa Artisans Gallery, it is a place for art. It is a really big store, and sell a lot of things about art. Special watches I never see before; beautiful paints; queer shape of those glasses. Those are really beautiful, but all of them are so expensive. There are be full of culture of American, there are very different than Chinese art. In China, we have blue and white porcelain. If blue and white porcelain shows classical and quiet, this store shows us colorful, different and innovation. I like those painting and porcelain a lot, I was studied art in high school, work of arts are so aestheticism. I never can make those, and I have no idea to do that. This store is so nice to see, and you should go to there to look those work of arts.  (Jerry)

Haunted Book Store

This afternoon, my group and I went to Haunted Book Store. It is a very small bookstore, but it has a lot of good things. The place is more like a house, not a store. I like it because it has books for different ages even though the place is small. It has a lot of cooking books, children stories, and novels. Also, there were a variety of games such as Puzzles, UNO, and Coloring books. It is really a nice, small bookstore.              Aqeelah Alabed, Reviewer

Today, my partner and I went to the Haunted Bookshop. We decided meet there at 3:30pm, however, Jason and I was late, because we went to the wrong place. This is because this book store moved to another place. When we got the book store, it looks old outside, but inside the store I felt this store is really like home, the clerk is very friendly, and there also has many stuffed toys and puzzle games to sale, there also has many old books. To  compare with Chinese book store, there has a lot of different, for example, in China, the book store only sale books, and always feel silence. However, there is a fantastic book store.

Hi, friends. I would like to present our Iowa experience of this week, “RAYGUN”.

My group and me went to this original place, where you can find a lot of exclusive things. We went the last Saturday afternoon. Raygun is easy to find. It is located on the Ped-Mall, close to UCC Mall. They sale different things such as T-shirts, hats, socks, sunglasses, cardigans and other.  All of these things have an artistic design, beautiful colors and unique style. If you want to buy something special, you should come to this place. You can find great gifts for a special person. The store has a nice environment, good music around and a friendly salesperson to help you in anything you need. I think that, it is a little bit expensive but you know, you really can buy special things there. One important point to mention is that the store has a website where you can buy all things that they offer. This is a good option because you can see with more detail and decide what you want to buy. So I really recommend RAYGUN, most if you want to buy a special and original souvenir from Iowa City.

Today, we went to raygun. Luckily, it is very close to our school, so we just needed to walk there. Next, it was a special store, which was very scientific. I could see some like American mail and things about Chemistry, then it stored clothes and special small things which was for babies.

The Ped Mall area contains restaurants, bars, retail, hotels, and the Iowa City Public Library. This is a convenient place. Because you are easy to find something right and what you want. For us, we have had fun in the Raygun.

In the Raygun, you could find anything about clothes. And you may easily enjoy warm during the winter through the shopping in Raygun. The stockings, gloves,jeans,and fleeces as like them. Affordable price offers more chooses. In here, you also can find what color you like and what picture in the clothes you love.

To compare the Coralville mall, I’d like to come the Ped mall. The far away road can tire your passion even thought in Coralville mall you may have more chooses. More over, the Raygun has been satisfied your normal needs in winter. For this shop, even thought it lacks of fashion, but the service is good enough to fill this lack and give you a sense of coming home.

Trip to AKAR

Group leader: last Friday , we visited the AKAR after our midterm exam. It’s a very funny place that they sell lot’s of creative goods. Such as: spoon, pot culture, DIY T-shirt. I’m very like that T-shirt what I posted, I bought it. AKRK it’s a very big store that they have two floor, the first floor they sell creative goods, the second floor they sell the oil painting. We took a picture in front of the ceramics wall, because I think the most popular goods are the ceramics jar. This is a fantastic place to sell something very cool and you can buy something to ornament your room. Try to find something you like, and then make you home more beautiful.

Reviewer:Today me and my team went to AKAR, a store which sold some stuffs for daily life, such as kettle, cup, umbrella and so on, but the point is they are all look like art. They are very pretty, and exquisite. I wanted to buy those erasers, their model looks so nice, some made like carrots, some made like fish, they are interesting. However, I forgot to buy them at the end, I will go there tomorrow and buy them I guess.

Comparer: On Friday, the last day of our midterm exams and the beginning of our spring break, our group members went to Akar. It is a fancy shop in Downtown Iowa City. It sells many kind of things like kitchen stuff, some accessories, and a few games for children. The kitchen's stuff is very fancy and the materials are better and more quality than the stuff at Walmart, but it is so expensive. For example, there is a fantastic teapot that they sell it by two hundred dollars. Maybe this is not a very good comparsion between these places because Akar is just a small shop for specific things while Walmart is a very big company that sells almost everything and it has lots of branches around the US, but I have not gone to any places similar to this shop. Howevre, I like this place. It is kind of muesum because it has great stuffs.
